[...] I’ve been thinking about it, and I believe I have now managed to track down everything that used to be important to me — every obscure pop-culture memory, every hard-to-find candy treat, every depiction of what my old neighborhood was like long ago, and now every close friend. I have fully mined my past. [...]

There is NO WAY it closed in 1973, even if that's when it was condemned. It was open AT LEAST through the summer of 1975, and I think a bit later than that. We moved to Forest Hills in October 1974 and I had one of my birthday parties there (June '75 or later). Peter Selden came (and feigned a serious illness because he was scared to go on the rides; my mom loves telling that story :-). I don't recall if you were there or not. Were we not friends yet then? I'm pretty sure we went together once, but maybe not then.

I was SO upset when it closed (especially that Palisades Park had closed to too long before that, though I barely remember that now). I adored Fligth to Mars and also the ride where you went straight up the inside, and spiraled down around the outside. The Toboggan I think it was?
