Brushes with greatness!
I went to elementary school at P.S. 196 in Forest Hills, NY. Among my friends there was a girl named Amy Linker. A few years after we all graduated, Amy landed a co-starring role opposite Sarah Jessica Parker in a popular TV sitcom called Square Pegs.
While Amy’s show was on the air, I attended Hunter College High School in Manhattan, where among my new friends was a girl named Cynthia Nixon. Several years later, Cynthia landed a co-starring role opposite Sarah Jessica Parker in a popular TV sitcom called Sex and the City.
What does it mean? And, which of my female college classmates will be SJP’s next TV co-star?

I actually gave Amy a ride home from college Sophomore year. She played Kate Bush’s Hounds of Love for me in the car, and I became a huge Kate Bush fan from then on. Amy and I were actually in touch quite a bit over the next year; she even got me to audition for a summer stock/camp production in the Berkshires of Jesus Christ Superstar that next summer where she was going to be working, which the director told me I got (Judas), then I never heard back from him. I lost touch with her after Junior year. It’s always cool when I run across articles about her, because unlike Cynthia who I was never friends with, I was good frends with Amy.

It’s true, dkuznick is the one person in the world who shares the Amy Linker-Cynthia Nixon connection with me, since we were the only ones from P.S. 196 to go to Hunter. It’s possible that, by going to different colleges, we broke the chain — there is no actress who was a college classmate of both of us.

[...] Does it take adversity of the kind that Jon faced his whole life to make someone passionate, driven, and accomplished? Maybe. I certainly don’t have Jon’s levels of passion, drive, and accomplishment, though I do have some of each. It is very possible that what I do have simply rubbed off of him somehow, long ago. The circle, already complete, is now illustrated.Incidentally, that’s Amy Linker in the center of the second row. Bookmark to: [...]
